Foothills Presbyterian Women
Spring Gathering 2006

On March 18, 2006, the Women of Foothills Presbytery met at the Second Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina for the Spring Gathering. Cindy Anderson, Miriam Haynie, Mary Emma Mathis, and Rita McMullan were in attendance for the Good Hope Presbyterian Church. A wonderful day of food, fun, and fellowship was enjoyed by everyone.

The meeting was opened by Jane Frost, the current moderator for Foothills PW. An offering was taken for The Soup Kitchens of Second Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, and Mattoon Presbyterian Church, Greenville.

The sermon was presented by Rev. Pam Patrick Cole. The title of the Sermon was "You are Dulcinea." Dulcinea is a character from Don Quixote. Don Quixote believes this peasant girl to be a princess.

The Scripture was taken form I John 3:1: "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."

In her message Rev. Cole wanted the women to learn that we have been adopted into the Royal family of God. This adoption would free us from what everyone thinks about us. This will give us freedom to serve God.

Rev. Cole explained that God sees us as royalty, lovely and beautiful. (Dulcinea) Because of this great love, God has prepared a room for each one of us in his heart. John 14:1-3: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In your Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." There is a room for each of us in the royal heart of God. God’s heart aches without us in that room in his. What a great love God has for all
of mankind.

Following the sermon there was a business meeting. It was announced that the Fall Gathering will be October 7, 2006 at Camp Hope in Clemson. The speaker will be Nancy Blakely. Jane Frost requested that we bring our PW picture book to the Fall Meeting.
